luck or skill: the designated loser really came down to who was defensive and who was offensive with their pieces. with how the battle rules were set in the event of a tie nothing happens to the defender but I assumed the attacker lost which gave a much bigger advantage.

Improve: the battle system could use a layer of complexity. with the range being based on the colors of the square's gatekeeping could be a very useful strategy.

Keep: I think the familiarization with chess is very helpful when learning to pick up and play. I really enjoy the gates forcing players to battle with one another the openings on the back side provide support.
